St Michael’s Ledbury now has 54 solar panels installed on our roof, generating electricity for the Church. Installed in December 2010, they were switched on in January 2011 and dedicated by Bishop Anthony in May 2011.
Invisible from the ground, the panels feed their power to inverters inside the building, which convert the DC current into the AC power used by mains electricity.
We installed the panels to do what we can to help to reduce our carbon footprint and to preserve the environment.
They will also save us money as we generate our own electricity, and benefit from the government’s feed-in tariff.
All the technical details can be found here, where you can also track how much the panels are generating, and how much carbon (and money) we have saved.
