The God who changes Lives

Some stories from the congregation at St Michael's

Christians are those who have met with the living God, and whose lives can never be the same again. They have a story to tell, which is good news. We hope that these stories will encourage and inspire you to know God more through his Son Jesus - and keep coming back as we hope to change the content of this page regularly.

Paul

I grew up in a non-Christian home. Neither of my parents attended Church, though I was sent to Sunday School for a few years. During my teens, the only times I went to Church were occasional school services, which were excruciatingly boring. Though I always vaguely believed in God, faith was not part of my life. Then, just before I left home to go to University, a friend invited me to his local church, which was different from anything I'd experienced before. The worship was full of life and meaning. It was exciting, because God was clearly there, and meant so much to the people. Yes, I wanted what they had, but the overriding feeling was of coming home: this was where I belonged. I came to realise what God had done for me - that Jesus had died for me - and began to experience the power and love of the Holy Spirit in my life. I've been a committed Christian now for 27 years, and whether life has been easy or hard, Jesus has always been there with me, giving my life its meaning and purpose.
